Wet roads feel different — tires have less grip, stopping distances increase, and quick movements become less predictable. But you don't need to overhaul your riding style. A few small adjustments go a long way, and your e-bike is already built for exactly this kind of real-world riding.
Braking: smooth over sudden
- Start braking earlier than usual
- Apply even, gradual pressure — don't grab
- Use both brakes together for balance
Think of it less like hitting "stop" and more like easing into it. Smooth inputs keep tires gripping instead of fighting the road.
Turning: slow before, not during
- Reduce speed before the corner
- Keep movements relaxed and controlled
- Avoid sharp leans or quick steering inputs
If it feels rushed, it probably is. Set your speed early and let the bike do the work through the turn.
Traction: watch the road surface
- Keep tires properly inflated
- Painted lines, grates, and leaves get extra slippery
- Go cautious through puddles — unknown depth
Wider tires naturally create more ground contact. Awareness helps the bike do its job.
Pedal assist: ease into acceleration
- Accelerate gently, especially from a stop
- Consider a lower assist level on slick sections
- Avoid sudden throttle bursts that can cause wheel slip
